When choosing to “Display results as link” the link displays even if one or more parameters to the link template is null. It then displays as the work “null”.
An option to hide the link when any parameter is null would make this much more useful and developers would not have to resort to encoding links in SQL again as per this recommendation: Link display in Table visualization
