Issue Summary

Hi, I’m struggling to get Redash to connect to my MS SQL-databases. No matter what Character sets I configure in the Data Source-parameters, I always get “‘utf8’ codec can’t decode byte 0x8f in position 5: invalid start byte” or some similar error.

I tried UTF-8 and cp1252 which are allowed and “Test Connection” succeeds. Other Character Sets are not allowed.

The databases I try to use have Latin1_General_100_CS_AS-collation.

Technical details:

  • Redash Version: 4.0.1+b4038
  • Browser/OS: Chrome / Firefox on Windows 10
  • How did you install Redash: Ubuntu 16.04 with the installation script.

I have found the reason, in mssql,pay attention to the rowversion type column.:joy:
